La Vega, Dominican Republic. — Grupo SID inaugurated the second edition of the Children’s Fair “Exploring the SDGs for a Sustainable World,” an educational and interactive platform aimed at fostering children’s knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the goal of helping them acquire the skills necessary to transform the future of the Dominican Republic.
The event, which is expected to attract 1,500 children, combines games, workshops, exhibitions, and recreational experiences, distributed across 17 stands, each dedicated to one of the SDGs. It will be held from May 14 to 17 at the Vega Sports Hall of Fame.
Ligia Bonetti, CEO of Grupo SID, stated during the opening ceremony: “Because when we promote education, we don’t just hand out books or school supplies; we create dignity, we build equity, and we invest in the future of our communities, the country, and all Dominicans.”
“Following the success of the first edition held in Santo Domingo in 2024, which impacted more than 2,800 students, Grupo SID decided to bring this initiative to La Vega, a key city in our history as Grupo SID, through Induveca, a brand deeply rooted in the heart of this community,” Bonetti added.
The fair has been designed as an inclusive and accessible activity where all children, regardless of their circumstances, can fully participate. Grupo SID aims to impact 20,000 children with SDG education by 2028, reaffirming its commitment to extending this call to action by motivating children to be the agents of change our environment needs.
“This effort, which is aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4.7 for Quality Education, seeks to ensure that all students receive an education that fosters their active participation in building a more just, inclusive, and conscious society, integrating values such as sustainable development and a culture of peace in the classroom,” said Nieves Ramos, Corporate Director of Human Resources at Grupo SID.
Also during the event, Leonidas Germán, General Director of Curriculum at the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic, highlighted the importance of the private sector carrying out these types of activities that create social value and contribute to the country’s progress.
Grupo SID executives, local authorities, representatives of the education sector, and strategic allies were present at the inauguration, who praised the initiative as a significant contribution to the development of conscious citizens committed to sustainable development.
The fair is part of the EducaSID program, created to promote inclusive, equitable, and quality education, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4. This initiative includes multiple training strategies aimed at both the Group’s employees and the communities impacted by its operations.
