As part of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Grupo SID celebrated the Route to Inclusion 2024, reaffirming its commitment to inclusion, diversity and sustainable development. This event highlighted an important moment with the signing of an agreement with the National Institute of Technical Professional Training (INFOTEP) to implement a Dual Technical Program for people with disabilities, being the first company in the country to achieve this milestone.
The signing of the agreement between Grupo SID and INFOTEP is a crucial step towards labor inclusion. This program will allow young people with disabilities to develop technical, practical and behavioral skills to efficiently manage administrative processes in an inclusive and accessible environment, promoting their professional development and improving their quality of life.
“With the formalization of this agreement, we reaffirm our commitment to labor inclusion as a driver for the development of a more equitable society. This milestone is an example of the positive impact we can generate when we join efforts in favor of diversity,” said Ligia Bonetti, CEO of Grupo SID.
Mr. Rafael Santos Badía, General Director of INFOTEP, emphasized: ¨The Institution will fulfill its responsibility to support companies, and in particular Grupo SID, under the DUAL training program by training people with a degree of disability that will allow us to help no one to be left behind. I cannot fail to recognize a company that for more than 80 years has served and is part of the progress of the Dominican Republic, generating decent jobs and contributing to the sustainability of the national economy.
In support of sports and in conjunction with the Jompéame Foundation, during the event, a sports wheelchair was given to Zoraida Milano, a Paralympic athlete in the Powerlifting or weightlifting discipline. This collaboration reflects Grupo SID’s commitment to support Dominican talent and promote inclusion through sports.
The day included an extensive program of activities designed to raise awareness, educate and empower employees and communities with experts in the areas of art, sports, technology and culture.
Bonetti emphasized: “We are committed to continuing to forge a distinctive organizational culture based on respect and adherence to ethical principles. Inclusion cannot be seen as an issue of quotas, of trends; it is to have the conviction that including talents in the organization according to their capabilities, is to lay the foundations for the creation of a truly inclusive culture”.
The event was attended by Ligia Bonetti, Executive President of Grupo SID; Rafael Santos Badía, General Director of INFOTEP; and Eduardo Valcárcel, Partner-Director of Newlink. During the event, recognized inclusion specialists such as María Esperanza Haché, Esmeralda Disla, José Garabitos, Wendy Queliz and Emma Carolina Fernández were present, together with Grupo SID executives, who strengthened the dialogue and actions in favor of diversity and inclusion.
Since the launch of the Inclúyeme SID program in 2018, Grupo SID has worked on initiatives that promote the labor inclusion of people with disabilities, moving towards the creation of fairer and more accessible work environments. This new agreement represents a firm step towards social transformation, demonstrating that inclusion is not only a corporate value, but an action that enriches everyone.
