Grupo SID raised awareness of the importance of caring for our ecosystem with the Environmental Sustainability program through its companies MercaSID, Induveca, Agua Crystal, and Induspalma as a way to ensure a better future for the next generations. In support of the environment, it united more than 100 volunteers with the reforestation day, “ReforestaSID 2022,” in the town of the Province of Monte Plata, a commitment the business group and Fondo de Agua Santo Domingo assumed.

Grupo SID, for 13 years, has achieved the commitment of its reforestation days in different points of the national geography, especially with the restoration project of Micro-basin Savita, contributing with this to the increase of forest cover in the country. On this occasion, ReforestaSID returns to Monte Plata to restore the ecosystem of the Savita River micro-watershed through actions that allow the quality and quantity of the water supplied to the Ozama River to be replenished, which, in turn, provides a large part of the water required by the city of Santo Domingo.

With this event, Grupo SID reforested 6.40 hectares and 7,000 seedlings, not only contributing to replenishing water but also neutralizing the carbon footprint they generate and recovering the forest layer of the communities in the area.
