Grupo SID strengthens religious tourism with the work “The Seven Sorrows and the Seven Glories of the Virgin Mary” in Higüey.

In an emotional ceremony, Grupo SID inaugurated the work “The Seven Sorrows and the Seven Glories of the Virgin Mary”, a Stations of the Cross composed of 14 steles that rise as a symbol of deep faith and cultural heritage in the Via Sacra, officially opened to give access to the Basilica Cathedral of Our Lady of Altagracia in Higüey, La Altagracia province.

This project, which seeks to highlight the spiritual and cultural importance of the Virgin Mary, connecting the Church of San Dionisio with the Basilica Cathedral of Our Lady of Altagracia, constitutes a collaboration of the prominent business conglomerate, within the framework of the inauguration of the Boulevard of the Pilgrimage and reconstruction of surrounding streets of the Basilica of Higüey.

The Executive President of Grupo SID Ligia Bonetti expressed her satisfaction and emotion at having the opportunity to collaborate on the project. “It is a great honor for me to inaugurate this Sacred Way, a work that resonates deeply in the heart of our faith, culture, and identity as a people,” he said, highlighting the business group’s commitment to projects that positively impact the community.

This Stations of the Cross not only has spiritual value but is also presented as a tourist attraction for devotees at a national and international level. “The Seven Sorrows and Seven Glories of Mary” invites pilgrims to reflect on the moments of suffering and exaltation in the life of the Virgin Mary. The Seven Sorrows highlight the compassion and sacrifice of the Mother of Jesus, while the Seven Glories celebrate her heavenly triumph and her key role in the history of salvation. In addition to its spiritual relevance, this project also boosts religious tourism in the province of La Altagracia, contributing to the economic development of the region.

“We are convinced that our mission at Grupo SID goes beyond business success. “We feel responsible for promoting values that transform our society and foster physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being,” added Bonetti.

The steles, meticulously sculpted by artist Javier Benítez, accurately capture the most significant moments of the Virgin Mary’s life. Every detail in the sculptures seeks to inspire devotion and comfort in those who contemplate them. This work stands as a space for reflection for all, reaffirming the values of humility, perseverance, and unwavering faith that characterize the Virgin Mary.

Grupo SID reaffirms its commitment to the Dominican community and its comprehensive development. With the participation of its companies MercaSID, Induveca, Induspalma, and the Escogido Baseball Club, the project reinforces the company’s mission to generate well-being, rooted in ethical principles. This work becomes a legacy that will strengthen the faith and unity of the community for generations to come.

Bonetti concluded by inviting everyone to reflect on the legacy of the Virgin Mary, whose example, he said, lights the way to a future full of love, solidarity, and hope.
