The Round Table Conference on Sustainable Oil Palm, RSPO InterAmericas 2023, held in Miami, Florida presented to Induspalma executives through various exhibitors the issues that are most impacting the cultivation, development, and sustainability of oil palm in the world, with a focus on the American continent. This was the first time connecting North America with Latin America. It was a highly beneficial meeting for those present: leaders of different oil palm production, processing, and marketing companies, non-profit and government organizations, suppliers, and more.
Various panels discussed topics such as the impact of climate change, analysis of the points of most significant impact on the industry, the jurisdiction of the certification, market connection, human rights, storytelling, the inclusion of retail suppliers, and changes in the regulation of the certificate.
The workshop helped open our minds about the importance of certification by complying with a sustainable business’s good practices in its three pillars (social, economic, and environmental) in the oil palm industry. The knowledge and ideas this conference brought me will be helpful in the sustainable communication of Grupo SID, Induspalma, and the other companies in our business group.
